The late Sidney Morgenbesser of Columbia University ranked all important philosophers by Gods, Geniuses, Bright Guys, and Competent Philosophers. Famous for his wit, Dr. Morgenbesser was without doubt a Bright Guy.
In the circle of the Gods, Doctor Morgenbesser had only three names: Plato, Aristotle, and Kant. So, it is appropriate on the splash page of this sandbox for philosophers without a portfolio that we start with these greats from which much of western thought derives.
